Making the Most of Your Senior Year

by

So, you’re a senior in high school. Your mind is probably flooded with visions of your future-and all the little things you’ve got to do to get there. But instead of letting stress rule your last days of high school, we’ve got a better idea. Make the most of your senior year by following this guide to fun.

Go ahead and plan. Yes, it’s probably the most stressful part of senior year. But thinking about your future will help you to avoid panic later on. Do some serious thinking about what you’d like to do next year and then take it a step further-make commitments to what you’ve chosen. Visit colleges, submit applications, apply for scholarships, and look into the financial aid you’ll need. Take the SAT or ACT early on this year, if you haven’t already. Think about where you’ll be living next year and pick out the college that’s right for you.

Deal with Senioritis and the graduation blues. You’ll probably find that you’re devoid of motivation as you’re about to finish up school. A little Senioritis is normal-after all, you’re about to leave all this behind! Just be sure that whatever goofing off you’ll do won’t damage the GPA you need to get into the college of your choice. You may also be a little sad at leaving behind your high school years. Know that although you’re letting go of some friends and great memories at your high school, the adventure that awaits in college will be just as fun and rewarding.

Soak up time with your friends and family as much as you can. You should always make friends and family time a priority, because by this time next year, the closest you may be to them is a phone call or weekend visit. Enjoy time with them while they are easy to get to and not buried in the demands of college life.

Take part in school activities. Be a part of senior projects, and don’t forget to enjoy popular yearly activities. Go to your prom, walk across the stage at graduation, and pop in to a few graduation parties. You only graduate high school once, and you’ll regret it later if you miss out on these activities now.

Your senior year of high school can be a time of many mixed emotions. Follow this guide to make the most of the time you have left in high school, and get ready for the fun that awaits you next year in college.
