Throwing a Graduation Party

By

After you have worked so hard to earn your degree, you deserve a chance to unwind and celebrate your accomplishments. Having a graduation party is the perfect way to thank all the people who helped you along the way. It’s also a great way to see old friends, relatives, and anyone else who had a hand in getting you to where you are today! Typically, graduation parties are thrown at your parents’ house, but they can be at a restaurant, bar, or any function hall. Once you’ve decided on a location, it’s time to prepare for the big day.

The days and weeks leading up to graduation are always so busy. You have exams and final papers to complete. Once exam period is over, most colleges have a week or so before the graduation ceremonies. This gives the graduates a chance to have fun with each other in a more relaxed setting. This is when your senior dance occurs, and when everyone parties into the wee hours of the night. So, once you’ve graduated you are completely exhausted. This is why it’s crucial that you have some help planning your graduation party. This is where your parents, siblings, friends, and relatives enter the picture.

Due to all the events in which you just participated surrounding your graduation day, you probably want a low-key graduation party. Ultimately, you want to have a chance to relax and get caught up with your friends and relatives. If it’s possible, having the party at a home is really the way to go. There is less pressure on people to make it a fancy affair. Roll out the hot dogs and hamburgers and set up a bar and you have all the ingredients you need for a great time.

Graduation parties usually begin during the mid-afternoon. Since these parties usually happen in late May and June, many of your guests may have other parties they need to attend during the day in addition to yours. Starting the party early affords people the opportunity to make the party circuit. Typically, the afternoon portion of the party is for your relatives and family friends. Once it begins to get darker, it becomes more a younger person’s party. This is when your friends (and hip relatives) start to let their hair down. It can be a ton of fun to see your uncle sharing a story with one of your college friends over a beer. It gives you the sense that you are growing up, which is what this party is really celebrating!
