University of Hawaii at Manoa

The flagship campus of the University of Hawaii System, University Hawaii Manoa was founded in 1907 and is one of only 32 institutions in the country designated as a land-, sea-, and space-grant research institution. It is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities. UH Manoa offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 200 fields, as well as online degree programs in the areas of nursing, education, interdisciplinary studies, Chinese, social work, and more. Known for its excellence in distance learning, UH Manoa’s College of Education and School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene were ranked among the U.S. News and World Report’s top 100 programs for online master’s degrees in education and nursing.

Hawaii Pacific University

As the largest private university in Hawaii, HPU enrolls more than 8,000 students. It was founded in 1965 by four prominent citizens who recognized the need for an independent, nonsectarian liberal arts college in Honolulu. Undergraduate degrees are available in more than 50 majors and there are 14 graduate degrees offered in fields such as business, nursing, communication, education, information systems, and more. Many of HPU’s master’s degree and certificate programs are offered online, as well as undergraduate courses. HPU is regionally accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and has been recognized by the U.S. News and World Report as one of the top Regional Universities in the West.

Kapiolani Community College

This college was established in 1946 and became a part of the community college system of the University of Hawaii in 1965. Today, KCC enrolls more than 7,000 students and strives to meet the needs of the local community through technical, occupational, and professional programs. Through distance education, students here can enroll in online certificate and degree programs as well as take credit and non-credit courses online. KCC is regionally accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
