This accelerated teacher certification program is designed to help you become a secondary teacher. It also will help you be proficient in specific program competencies which are based upon national and state professional standards for beginning teachers. Each course requires you to gain knowledge and experience in relation to one of more of the program competencies.

 

Additionally, every course is designed to support the Reflective Decision Maker Model to ensure that teachers develop the habit of thoughtful analysis of their own teaching practice for the purpose of promoting the learning and achievement of their 7–12 students. The degree prepares you to develop secondary lesson plans, implement instructional strategies, assess student learning, and manage a classroom. In addition, you’ll take elective classes on teaching specific subject areas. You’ll be qualified to teach middle and high school students in public and private school settings.
