Arizona State University

Located in Tempe, just outside of Phoenix, Arizona State University is the largest university in country, with an enrollment of more than 70,000 students. The school was originally established in 1885 and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In an effort to meet the demands of a growing student population and limit overcrowded classrooms, ASU also has a number of online college courses and degree programs available. The school has offered online education programs since 2007 and current areas of study include, but are not limited to, art history, business administration, criminal justice, engineering, English, education, history, health care, media studies, psychology, sociology, and technical communication. The online bachelor degree programs at Arizona State were ranked No. 1 for their student services and technology by U.S. News & World Report. Grand Canyon University

Established in 1949 in Phoenix and accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Grand Canyon University is one of the country’s top online universities. A private Christian university, GCU also has extensive on-campus programs and serves more than 37,000 students. Online degree programs are available in areas such as business, digital design, education, health care administration, nursing, psychology, and religious studies. U.S. News & World Report ranked the online bachelors degree programs at GCU among the top 100 schools for student engagement and assessment and student services and technology. The online nursing programs were also highly ranked for student engagement and accreditation at No. 8 on the list.

Phoenix College

Phoenix College was founded in 1920 and is one of the oldest community colleges in the United States. Today, the school is considered the flagship school of the Maricopa County Community College District and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Phoenix College serves more than 12,000 students and also offers a number of online programs to serve the needs of working adults and non-traditional students. Available areas of study include art, biology, criminal justice, chemistry, education, health care, history, mathematics, marketing, music, religion, and sociology. Hybrid learning programs are also available for students interested in receiving some level of on-campus instruction.

Phoenix is the largest city in Arizona and the sixth largest city in the country. Telecommunications, education, and tourism are important industries in the local economy. The city is home to several Fortune 500 companies, such as Avnet, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, US Airways, Petsmart, and the Apollo Group.
